While Google reviews tend to be a little more reliable than most in terms of reviews, it is still not a fool proof method.  Anyone with a Google account can write a review about anything or any company with no authentication or verification.  This means that a review can be given to the wrong company or location.  That person reviewing may have not even done business with the company they review.  The problem with this is that both good and bad reviews can end up being misleading.  Sometimes the review is negative, but totally unrelated to the product someone purchased.

Lets take a look at our reviews... while the majority are good reviews from our actual customers, we do have a limited number of bad reviews.  Those reviews are not necessarily about the product that we sell, but was rather in reference to an erecting crew.  Just to be clear, Renegade only sells steel building kits, we are not general contractors.  We do, however, have contact info for companies that have done concrete and erecting for our customers that we provide to new customers when needed and appropriate.  We tell our customers to qualify anyone they are considering to contract with to make sure they are comfortable with doing business with them.

And then there is one review that we have no idea who the person is or if they have ever spoken to anyone at Renegade.

It certainly gets a little more interesting when looking at reviews on Yelp.  One of the reviews appears to be either a bogus review, review of the wrong company or even created by a competitor.  Since Yelp allows someone to create a totally anonymous account with no real name or picture, they can write anything they want and it's all but impossible to know who they are.  We did try to look for customers with the same initials and/or buildings sold in the general area as listed on yelp, but could only come up with one customer match.  We spoke to that customer to see if he had an issue and he was happy with his building.

The other Yelp review is from a customer that also left a review on Google.  As said above, we sell the steel building kits and do provide contact info for contractors.  However, the customer needs to qualify anyone they decide to work with and all common practices such as obtaining lien waivers should be observed.  We should not be held accountable for the actions of a separate company not associated with Renegade.

Another problem with Yelp is their review system.  They claim that they have a "System" that determines which reviews they list for a company, yet when a review is reported as false or misleading such as the first review above, nothing is done and the review is left.  then when a business owner looks at ALL their reviews, there are some that get hidden even thought they appear to be completely valid and from an actual customer.  Take a look at the screen shot to see an example.
